Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Margaritaville Resort Orlando

What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than with a stay at a tropical resort where margaritas of all flavors are a mainstay? Of course we highly encourage that! And while you’re with us, we have plenty of suggestions for fun ways to see Orlando through the eyes of our Spanish communities.

The timing of Hispanic Heritage Month coincides with the Independence Day celebrations of several Latin American nations. September 15 was chosen as the kickoff because Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua declared their independence from Spain on September 15, 1821.

During your stay, you can take a short drive up I-4 and watch a parade, meet an artist or sample the food of a Hispanic culture you want to learn more about. Here are our suggestions for such day trips:

Florida Puerto Rican Parade & Festival

Beginning at 11 a.m. on September 18, the vibrant Florida Puerto Rican Parade will make its way through downtown Orlando. Afterward, the festival features food, live music, arts and crafts, and vendors from 3 to 11 p.m. There is no admission charge for parade viewing or the festival.

Smithsonian Museum Day

The Orange County Regional History Center celebrates Latin American arts and culture at its Smithsonian Museum Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 18. Central Florida artists representing a wide variety of Latin American countries will display and sell their artwork. You can meet the artists, see live painting demonstrations, and enjoy family-friendly crafts and activities. Tickets are free and must be downloaded here. Each ticket is good for the holder and one guest.
