Spooks and Splashes: Halloween-Themed Pool Games for Family Fun

At Margaritaville Resort Orlando, the fall season doesn’t exclude pool time! In fact, fall days bring the perfect pool weather. So, why not combine the pool with Halloween to make some spooktacular fun? Time to get creative and have a Halloween pool party! In this blog, we'll dive into some fang-tastic Halloween-themed pool games that will make a splash with the entire family.

1. Spooky Treasure Hunt

Create a Halloween-themed treasure hunt in your pool by hiding a variety of Halloween-themed items on the pool floor. You can use plastic pumpkins, toy spiders, and even glow-in-the-dark skeletons. Provide each family member with a list of items to find and a small net or scoop. Time them and see who can collect the most spooky treasures. To add an extra challenge, you can turn off the pool lights and use underwater flashlights for an eerie glow.

2. Ghostly Ping Pong

Transform ordinary ping pong balls into spooky floating ghosts by adding googly eyes and drawing ghostly faces on them with a marker. Place them on the water's surface and challenge your family members to see who can blow their ghost across the pool and into a designated area first. The catch is that they can only use their breath to move the ghostly ping pong ball.

3. Witch's Hat Ring Toss

Create a witch's hat ring toss game by floating witch hats (made from foam or inflatable ones) in the pool. Each family member takes turns tossing plastic rings or glow sticks onto the pointy tip of the hat. You can assign different point values to the rings to make it more competitive. The player with the most points at the end wins a prize, perhaps a bag of Halloween candy!

4. Monster Ball Relay Race

Turn pool noodles into friendly sea monsters by decorating them with googly eyes and colorful tape. Divide your family into teams and set up a relay race. Each participant must ride their "monster" pool noodle from one end of the pool to the other and back. The catch? They must stay balanced on their noodle while keeping their feet off the ground. The team that completes the relay first wins the race.

5. Ghoulie Water Balloon Toss

Water balloons aren't just for summer! Fill some orange and black water balloons for a spooky twist. Divide your family into pairs and have them stand at a distance from each other in the pool. Start tossing the water balloons back and forth, gradually increasing the distance with each successful toss. The last pair with an unburst balloon wins the game. Be prepared for some refreshing splashes along the way!

6. Zombie Pool Freeze Tag

Give the classic game of freeze tag a Halloween twist. Designate one family member as the "zombie." Their mission is to tag the other family members to turn them into zombies as well. However, instead of tagging with their hands, the zombies must tag by spraying their victims with water guns or splashing them with pool water. Once tagged, the person becomes a zombie and joins in the fun of tagging others. The last person to be turned into a zombie wins the game.
