Recreation Supervisor

The Position:
The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing recreational programs and activities for resort guests. This position ensures that all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the resort's standards for guest experience. The supervisor will lead and support the activities team, manage logistical requirements, and collaborate with other departments to provide high-quality, family-friendly programming. In addition, this role will support resort marketing and promotional efforts by assisting with onsite advertising, activity app management, maintaining relationships with local vendors, and contributing to other marketing initiatives as needed to maximize guest participation and enhance the resort's overall brand presence.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and performance events.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of guests of all ages, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
  • Develop seasonal and special event programs aligned with resort schedules and guest preferences.
  • Evaluate programs using guest feedback and participation data to improve future activities.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of activities, including onsite advertising, app updates, and vendor partnerships.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the activities team to ensure high-quality program execution.
  • Engage with guests during activities, providing instruction, guidance, and support.
  • Train team members on activity delivery, guest engagement, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate team schedules and assignments to maintain adequate coverage for all programs.
  • Regularly carry out Recreation Attendant duties in addition to supervisory tasks, providing hands-on support in activities and guest interactions.
  • Manage setup, operation, and teardown of activities, ensuring resources and equipment are ready.
  • Enforce safety procedures and resort policies to prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and order replacements as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper scheduling and space allocation.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity participation, inventory of supplies, and program outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with other resort departments to integrate recreational programming with overall guest services and events.
  • Supervise activities team members, camp counselors, and other staff assigned to recreational programs.
  • Oversee temporary or seasonal staff as needed to support activities and events.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • CPR / First Aid certification preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience leading or supervising a team in a recreational, hospitality, or entertainment setting.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing activities or programs for diverse age groups.
