Keep the Party Going: Celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day by Giving Back
Paradise, Powered by Purpose: Margaritaville Celebrates the 3rd Annual Day of Service
This Labor Day weekend, Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts are honoring Jimmy’s legacy through music, community service, special events, and plenty of good times along the way.
Jimmy Buffett had a remarkable way of bringing people together. His music could turn strangers into friends, an ordinary afternoon into a celebration, and a faraway beach into a state of mind. But the impact he made reached far beyond the songs. Jimmy believed in helping others, protecting the places that bring us joy, and leaving the world a little better than we found it.
On Friday, September 4, 2026, Margaritaville will carry that spirit forward during the third annual Margaritaville Day of Service. Throughout Labor Day weekend, Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts and restaurants will come together to celebrate Jimmy’s life and legacy through volunteer projects, charitable partnerships, benefit events, live music, commemorative offerings, and meaningful opportunities to give back. Whether you spend the weekend lending a hand, escaping to paradise, raising a glass, or singing along to a favorite song, there are plenty of ways to join the celebration.
A Weekend Inspired by Service
Jimmy showed us that doing good and having a good time can go hand in hand. That idea remains at the heart of Margaritaville’s Day of Service.
Across the Margaritaville family, team members, guests, and local communities will support Singing for Change—an organization created by Jimmy to fund grassroots nonprofits—as well as charitable organizations making a difference in the communities our destinations call home.
The events may look different from one destination to the next, but they all share the same purpose: bringing people together and turning positive energy into meaningful action.
Here are just a few of the ways Margaritaville destinations are keeping Jimmy’s spirit of service alive this year.
Helping Four-Legged Friends Near Anna Maria Island
At Compass Hotel Anna Maria Sound, the Day of Service celebration begins well before Labor Day weekend with an entire month of activities supporting Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare (FMCAW).
Guests and local residents can stop by for a Pet Adoption Meet & Greet on August 15, browse unique finds during the Jewelry to the Rescue fundraiser on August 23, or donate to the hotel’s Pet Food & Toy Drive through September 7. A Give & Win Raffle will also give supporters the chance to win a five-night hotel stay, a Paradise Boat Tours excursion, and a Floridays Woodfire Grill & Bar gift card.
Even happy hour is helping the cause. Compass Bar & Chill and Floridays Woodfire Grill & Bar will serve a Meow Mixer and feature a Puperita cocktail, with proceeds benefiting FMCAW.
Travelers can make their stay part of the effort, too. Through the hotel’s Keep the Party Going Package, guests who stay two nights or more can receive 15% off, two special-edition commemorative cups, and $5 from each night stay will be contributed to Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare.
A Full Weekend of Music and Community in Naples
Compass Hotel Naples is turning Jimmy Buffett Day into a three-day celebration filled with live music, fundraising, and plenty of opportunities to gather for a good cause.
The festivities begin Friday, September 4, with the opening of a silent auction and 50/50 raffle, followed by live music from Gypsy Blue.
On Saturday, guests can meet former Major League Baseball player Curtis Pride during a book signing before enjoying live performances throughout the day. The celebration will also include a cornhole tournament—a fitting way to bring a little friendly competition into the weekend. The music continues Sunday as the silent auction and raffle enter their final hours.
Throughout the weekend, fundraising efforts will support LS Warriors, a local organization dedicated to helping children with disabilities experience the confidence and connection that come from participating in sports.
Guests looking to make a getaway out of the celebration can book the Keep the Party Going Package for 20% off retail rates. Each stay includes two commemorative cups, while the hotel will contribute $5 per night to LS Warriors. A two-night minimum stay is required.
Creating a Welcoming Day in Fort Myers Beach
Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach is partnering with My Autism Connection to create an inviting and accessible day by the water for the organization’s members. The resort will offer discounted Fins Up! Beach Club day passes, a reserved cabana where attendees can cool down and connect, savings on food and beverages, complimentary valet parking for select vehicles, and complimentary passes for My Autism Connection staff and volunteers.
To further support the organization’s fundraising efforts, the resort is also donating a two-night stay and two four-packs of Fins Up! Beach Club day passes for a future visit. Guests can continue supporting My Autism Connection through the resort’s Keep the Party Going Package. The offer includes savings of up to 20% on lodging, a complimentary special-edition Jimmy Buffett Day commemorative cup, and a $5-per-night donation from the resort to the organization.
Turning Up the Music in San Diego
Music will take center stage at Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter during its third annual Day of Service Benefit Concert. The free event will be headlined by The Buffett Band and will include a travel-and-experience-themed silent auction along with interactive entertainment. A portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the San Diego Music Foundation, supporting music education, outreach, and community programming throughout the region.
For those who want to extend the evening into a Labor Day weekend escape, the hotel’s Keep the Party Going offer includes 30% off the Best Available Rate for stays of two or more consecutive nights. Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter will also donate $5 for every night booked through the package to Singing for Change. From rooftop relaxation to live music in the Gaslamp Quarter, the experience gives guests the opportunity to make memories while helping the next generation discover the power of music.
Keeping Paradise Beautiful in Mexico
At Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Riviera Cancun and Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Riviera Maya, the celebration will focus on caring for the natural surroundings that make each destination so special. Guests and team members will take part in a beach cleanup at Riviera Cancun and a mangrove cleanup at Riviera Maya. With a Jimmy Buffett playlist setting the tone, volunteers will work together to help protect the local coastal ecosystem and keep paradise beautiful for generations to come.
After the cleanup, participants will gather for a refreshing coconut water or nonalcoholic margarita and a simple toast to the places that give us so many unforgettable memories.
Restaurants Join the Cause
If you only have an hour or two to escape on Jimmy Buffett Day, participating Margaritaville and LandShark restaurants will support their local communities through the Paradise Pantry Food Drive, a company-wide collection of nonperishable food benefiting food banks and community pantries.
Each participating restaurant will select a local charitable partner and serve as a collection point for donations from team members and guests. Before heading out, check with your local Margaritaville or LandShark restaurant to learn which organization it is supporting, what items are most needed, and how you can contribute.
More Ways to Celebrate, Wherever You Are
Wherever you are this Labor Day Weekend, the celebration travels well.
Starting Monday, August 17, the Margaritaville Store is releasing an exclusive Jimmy Buffett Day merchandise collection including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, glassware, and accessories designed for the occasion. It's a small way to keep the spirit going, wherever paradise happens to be for you.
And on Friday, September 4, from 5–8 PM ET, tune into Radio Margaritaville on SiriusXM Channel 24 or RadioMargaritaville.com for a special broadcast hosted by JD Spradlin, live from the Margaritaville Café in Key West.
For those looking to make a longer weekend of it, several properties are offering Keep the Party Going packages for stays between August 3 and September 27, pairing discounted rates with a nightly charitable contribution and two commemorative Jimmy Buffett Day cups. And if you find your way to a participating restaurant between September 4–11, enjoy one of the specialty drinks served in a limited-edition cup — Sunshine State of Mind and Caribbean Heat.
How Will You Keep the Party Going?
You may find yourself at a Margaritaville destination this Labor Day weekend, singing along during a benefit concert, helping clean a beach, donating food, supporting shelter animals, or simply sharing stories with the people you love.
If you can't make it to a Margaritaville destination this Jimmy Buffett Day, you can still volunteer with a local organization, check on a neighbor, donate to a community pantry, pick up litter from a favorite park or beach or support a cause close to your heart. Be sure to invite other FIN-mates to join you!
However you choose to participate, let Jimmy Buffett Day be a reminder that a good life is made even better when we share some of that goodness with others.
