Celebrate Chalkfest in Pigeon Forge
Plan an early October getaway at Margaritaville Island Inn to experience Chalkfest and the whimsical nature of chalk art in Pigeon Forge.

October
Steps away from the Margaritaville Island Inn, The Island in Pigeon Forge hosts the annual Chalkfest in early October. At Chalkfest, artists—professional and aspiring—transform concrete walkways into elaborate designs, showcasing their creativity and vying for cash prizes. Come watch the artists at work, or register to create your own chalk masterpiece, alongside the others.
Event Information
Every year, Chalkfest in Pigeon Forge features a new theme for participants to draw inspiration from. Registration to participate is free, as is the chalk, although you can bring your own. Artists can pick up their chalk, get their concrete space, and start designing at 8 a.m. on the day of Chalkfest. Participate as an individual or sign up as a group. Judging takes place at 4 p.m., so you’ll have a full day to complete your chalk art. The sky’s the limit in terms of creativity, and we’re never surprised to find our guests including palm trees, tropical drinks, and beach scenes in their works.
Chalkfest Awards
Professional chalk artists serve as judges. They evaluate each drawing based on four criteria: overall composition, creativity, how well the artist stuck to the theme, and use of chalk. Best in Show and People’s Choice awards have cash prizes. But there are also first, second and third place awards given out in these categories: Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Adult. Perhaps this is the year to try your hand at this Pigeon Forge favorite.
When you stay at Margaritaville Island Inn in Pigeon Forge, you’ll enjoy a laid-back October getaway while being minutes from the action at Chalkfest. Join us for this artistic celebration when fall arrives.
